This is all speculative, but all the leaked images such are leading most Porsche sites and forums to give reason to believe that the next generation of the 991 will have turbocharging on the base Carrera with a lower displacement motor...
!!! UNKNOWN CONTENT TYPE !!!

IT'S BAD ENOUGH THAT I CAN'T SEE THE DAMN ENGINE IN THE REAR, NOW YOU WANT TO PUT FORCED SHIT IN THE BACK???
Forced induction, you've gone too fucking far this time...
If this is indeed true, What will happen to the 911 Turbo?? The only 911 that should have a damn turbo!!
If this is the future of Porsche, I've got nothing to live for anymore. There's no hope for humanity, there's no hope for the future, there is no fucking god.

N/A power is ALWAYS better than forced induction power. I would rather drive an NA 600HP V8 than a similarly powered SC V8.
I had the pleasure of driving a fairly modified E39 M5 for an extended period of time a week or two ago and it was much more fun than any turbo car with similar power. Very responsive.

It sucks but is also kinda cool. lower displacement, forced induction vehicles with massive HP and good fuel economy.
I mean sure, it does suck to loose out on so many awesome N/A motors like BMWs with ITBs from the factory. but at the same time, massive power, FI engines with warranties is also pretty cool.

I didn't check the details to see what the displacement of the base Carrera would be. I had assumed it would be much lower than 3.4L because a turbo 3.4L would kill the 3.8L in the C2S. And customers could tune it to be too close to the power from The Turbo

That's old news, most of us got over it a long time ago. We didn't like it, but we got used to it; Porsche had completely valid reasons for going to liquid-cooled:
1. Cost savings
2. The ability to use outsourced parts for their engines, as the air-cooled parts were very specific, had to be built in-house and were expensive and time consuming.
With liquid-cooling, engine and car production increased significantly meaning more 911s.
That's perfectly fine, this shit is not.

This looks like a stereo system, not an engine. Which, I guess, is ironic seeing as how a lot of carmakers now use stereos to enhance engine noise.
At the risk of agravating your mood, let's hope Porsche doesn't succumb to that level after the probable decline in noise after adding a turbo to the base.
Does this help?

When you can figure out a better way to get more power out of smaller displacement engines that are more efficient to meet strict government regulations, let me know.
Until then, PLEASE FOR THE LOVE OF GOD STOP BITCHING ABOUT FORCED INDUCTION.
I don't give two shits about heritage and "Only the 911 Turbo should be turbocharged" Companies have to meet MPG regulations while still catering to an alway pushing crowd of people who constantly want more power. The only proven way to do this right now is forced induction. So until another way is proven reliable and successfully able to do this (which cylinder deactivation isn't yet), you're just gonna have to live with it.
I'm not even going to mention the fact that you drive a turbocharged car.

Of course you'd be the one person who doesn't understand what that brand means to me above and beyond everything else, and how I feel when something like this happens; or with you and your GM shit. Sure, lets put turbo 4s in everything GM, the Corvette, the Camaro, the SS, no more V8s because MPG regulations; would you truly like that, even if it offered more power? Or are you just a power-whore and that's the only thing that matters. Let's drop in turbos on the Miata and change it to FWD, because safety reasons; it's the same fucking thing. Howabout in the future the 4 cylinder isn't even enough for fuel economy regulations, nor is a 3 cylinder, let's all use V-twin motors from motorcycles because fuck Heritage.

The Z06 was the track monster and the ZR1 was the hypercar like grand tourer. The Z06 was basically only good on the track where the ZR1 had Magnetic Ride and was heavier and was better on the street but still good on the track. Basically Z06=GT3 and ZR1=GT2, one made more power but you know which one you really wanted.

If the company had to do that, sure, I'd live with it. If it offered more power, awesome! I wouldn't go out and complain about it because I know the company, who's famous for their V8 engines, wouldn't kill them off for any other reason then because the government, who CERTAINLY give ZERO FUCKS about heritage, says they have to because they don't meet their stupidly strict standards.
Yes, me who thinks my 200 horsepower, 6000lb vehicle has enough power, is a total power whore.
I'll repeat it again THE GOVERNMENT DOESN'T CARE ABOUT A CARMAKERS HERITAGE. They've got car companies by the balls with their new CAFE shit, and they must conform or die. Aston Martin for example, every things old and outdated and guess what, their cars aren't meeting government standards. Now they're struggling to stay in the US.

California T has shown me that turbocharging can be OK. Hopefully they keep the GT3 NA, but that will be a tough sell compared to a faster Carrera.
NA is best.... at sea level, on a race track, in a very light car. For literally everything else, objectively at least, turbocharging improves the functionality of an engine appreciably.
